We, at Pitchon Lev, work to fulfill our ideology and vision – that there will be no hungry, poor or needy people in the State of Israel. For the past 12 years we have extended a hand, through the Friends of Pitchon Lev and a network of volunteers, to support people throughout Israel, irrespective of gender, religious affiliation, race, ethnicity or nationality.

The Poverty Report and official data collected by the National Insurance Institute of Israel shows that there are 1.8 million men, women and children living below the poverty line in horrendous conditions.

Of these, over 850,000 are hungry children.

At our two national Pitchon Lev Aid Centers – in Rishon Letziyon ,serving the center of the country, and in Carmiel , serving the north – we help over 200,000 people a year from disadvantaged families who are referred to us by social workers throughout Israel.
Every month, we distribute some 4,000 food baskets in addition to 1,000 food baskets for infants, and over 20,000 items of clothing, shoes, house wares, toys, games, books, school bags, linens, and baby goods.

Pitchon Lev is a national humanitarian umbrella organization assisting over 42 non-profit organizations nationwide. We help soup kitchens, senior citizen centers, yeshivas, shelters for battered women, orphanages, shelters for teens at risk, regional councils, municipalities, and dozens of organizations distributing food to thousands of needy people throughout Israel.

In addition, it is our mission to help families at risk to break the vicious cycle of poverty by extricating youth, particularly those who manifest clear aspirations and the potential to accomplish their dreams, to try to seek new horizons.

Therefore, in 2002 we established The “Touching the Horizon” Educational Center, which is a 7 year innovative, comprehensive program, helping youth at risk from grade 10 until one year after the army service. 

We believe that with professional aid, direction, emotional support and creating a sense of belonging will lead these young people to a better future and in turn, contribute to the unity, excellence and success of Israeli society.
