Extracurricular Activities

Combine experimenting with new activities along with joint volunteer activity of the educational center’s members and the volunteers of the adoptive company. These extracurricular activities permit and encourage raising one’s self-worth, forging a team spirit, strengthening the relationship with the volunteers, exposing various aspects that are not manifested in the continuous activity and dealing with them (by the students, volunteers and mentors), and drawing great satisfaction from the very contribution to a third party.
In 2008, teens from various schools, part of the educational center, participated in a variety of extracurricular activities:
• The Ethiopian group, composed of new immigrants, had three different outings – to the cinema, to the “Nachshonit” Motor Park, and to the “Bowling Center”, for the first time in their lives!
• The group from Bat Yam had a paintball activity in “Adrenalin Herzliya”.
• The group from Tel Aviv prepared and distributed food packages to the elderly on Purim, visited the Air Force base in Hatzerim, and participated in picking strawberries for the needy, along with the “Table-to-Table” non-profit organization. 
The teens’ reactions:
• The teens reported of a great deal of enjoyment from using various new and challenging facilities, as well as pride and a feeling of high self-worth that stemmed from succeeding in the different activities, despite them being new experiences for most of them (the paintball, bowling and the motor park).
• During the activities that involved helping others, the kids experienced spiritual uplifting and a great sense of satisfaction, and expressed a strong desire to participate in similar initiatives in the future.
• During their visit at the Air Force Base in Hatzerim, the teens learned that there are many possibilities to hold significant and challenging positions within the IDF. Some of the students greatly moved us when, following the visit, they told us that they would try their hardest to serve in the IDF in combat positions
