The sad reality of infants in Israel 2008 Every week, we at Pitchon Lev assist some one thousand families with infants.
A food package for infants typically contains baby formula, diapers, jars of puree and other foodstuffs essential for proper infant development.
At present, we have run out of all baby formula. The expensive and hard to obtain baby formula
that was donated in limited quantities by a large bank and a company making baby food is all gone.
The reality at our aid centers is sad – infants in Israel of 2008 have nothing to eat.
Unfortunately, mothers knock at the doors of our aid centers asking for food, and we have nothing to give them.
The stories are heart-rending. Mothers in Israel are left helpless in the face of their baby’s hunger.
N., a mother of a 3-month old baby girl, came to the aid center and was told there was no formula available. She told us she had found a “solution,” born of desperation: “I dilute regular milk with water and mix in some flour so that my baby won’t feel hungry.”
