Approximately 20% of the teenagers in Israel are defined as teenagers at risk, and many have already fallen prey to drugs, alcohol and prostitution. In many cases they suffer from abuse and severe neglect. Without assistance these children and teenagers will never finish high school, will not be recruited into the army and will not fit into Israeli society.
The "Pitchon Lev" organization operates the "Touch the Horizon" Educational Center founded in the name of the first Israeli astronaut, Ilan Ramon. In the framework of the Educational Center, teenagers at risk are spotted in time and through this unique program developed in collaboration with the Tel-Aviv University we are able to help t them finish high school successfully, obtain a matriculation certificate and enlist in the army.
